Ripley County Sheriff’s report for December activity

 

A report generated by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, gives a summary of activity for December.

 

Criminal Cases:

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office received 49 criminal cases during December.

 

§  Alcohol related offenses-6

§  Drug related offenses-9

§  Misdemeanor/Felony traffic offenses- 15

§  Juvenile Related Offenses- 4

§  Domestic related offenses- 8

§  Crimes against persons/ property- 42

 

Out of the 49 criminal cases received, 29 were either closed or resulted in arrest and 20 cases remain open, under investigation.  The most frequent charge for December was Theft.

 

Motor Vehicle Accidents:

Deputies investigated a total of 54 motor vehicle accidents. There were 42 property damage accidents, 12 personal injury accidents with 13 people being injured. The most frequent cause of accidents was animal in the roadway.

Civil Process Service:

A total of 12 warrants and 220 civil process papers were served during December.  They include subpoenas, summons, notifications of Sheriff’s Sales, eviction notices, small claim actions and complaints and tax warrants. 

There were 22 firearm permits applied for or renewed through the Sheriff’s office.

 

Ripley County Jail:

There were 60 prisoners booked into the facility with the most frequent charge being Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.  An average of 3 prisoners per day were on home incarceration. The total billed to other facilities for housing in December was $26,145.00.

Ripley County Deputies and Jail Officers traveled a total of 1,665 miles transporting prisoners to court appointments, doctor’s and dentist appointments and extraditions. 

         

Reserve Officers:

Ripley County Reserve Officers worked 152 hours during December.  Reserve officers served 75 civil process notices and 3 warrants.
