What should I do if the abuser violates the protective order?

Immediately call the police.  Once the police arrive, show them a copy of the protective order and tell them what happened.  The police should enforce the protective order.

The violation of a protective order is a crime in Indiana called "Invasion of Privacy" a Class A Misdemeanor.  The abuser can be arrested for violating your protective order.

In addition, the violation of a protective order may also be considered "civil contempt".  You can ask the judge in the protective order court to help enforce the order.
