Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for December 29, 2008

December 29, 2008
The Ripley County Commissioners opened their meeting promptly at 7:00AM on Monday, December 29th, 2008 at the Ripley County Highway Department, Osgood, Indiana.
Meeting called to order promptly at 7:00AM with Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell in attendance. Auditor McCoy was not in attendance.
Commissioners recessed to the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, In. for the rest of the Commissioners meeting.
Highway Department Foremen updated the Commissioners on the projects the highway is working on at the present time.
Commissioners opened the recessed meeting from the Ripley County Highway Department promptly at 8:00AM, Monday, December 29th, 2008 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, In. with the pledge of allegiance.
Commissioner Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were all in attendance.
Commissioners and Auditor were all present for the meeting at the Ripley County Annex.
John Lohrum, Maintenance advised the Commissioners that he will be moving the Treasurer’s and the Assessor’s offices today.
Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the Commissioners that the Technology Committee decided to go with Blue River for the phone system, no installation charge for the PRI’S, 66 phone lines, addition 20 lines, a total cost for the new phone system from Blue River is $90,756.32. Vollet advised that they will begin the phone installation on January 19th and will start with 911.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission had nothing to report.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the Ripley County State of Indiana Sheriff’s Salary Contract for the year 2009 at an annual salary $73,000, plus all benefits afforded regular county employees seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously. Sheriff’s Tax Warrant Collections Fees shall be deposited to the County General for use for any General Fund purpose. County Council shall make an appropriation in the usual manner from the County General Fund to the Sheriff for feeding prisoners. Sheriff shall deposit all meal allowances received in the County General Fund for use for any General Fund Purpose. Sheriff shall file an accounting of expenditures for feeding prisoners with the County Auditor on the first Monday of January and the first Monday of July.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the Amended#1, To Extension Contractual Services Agreement between Purdue University and Government of Ripley County, Indiana (in accordance with IC20-12-42.1) seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to accept all bids from the December 15th bids openings for Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Crushed Stone, Ready Mix Concrete, Ready Mix Asphalt, Liquid Bituminous Asphalt Material, Corrugated Culver Pipe and Pre-Engineered Bridges seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to accept the escalating /deescalating bid for the 30,000 tons (more or less) #9 Surface received from Dave O’Mara Contractor, Inc. seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next Commissioners meeting on January 12th, 2009 @ 7:00 AM at the Ripley County Highway Garage, Osgood, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
