Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for October 5, 2007

October 5, 2007

 

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Friday, October 5th, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.

Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.

Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.

Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.

Attorney Neil Comer, County Attorney was not present for the Commissioners meeting.

Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance advised the Commissioners on projects he is working on in the courthouse and annex. Lohrum advised that the courthouse will be shut down at 4:00PM to work on the water link. Commissioner Nickell presented concern about the trees around the courthouse. Lohrum will get some professional opinion on the trees for the commissioners and report back.

Ginger Bradford, Clerk of the Circuit Court advised the Commissioners that a change needs to be made with the voting precincts in the Town of Versailles. Commissioners Folz made a motion to change Johnson 1, 2 and 3 from the Tyson Church Fellowship Hall to the Mason Lodge for the Town of Versailles election seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously. Bradford advised the commissioners that the state is paying $53.11 per polling place for work on the precincts, Elrod (Community Hall) needs some gravel before next year, new handicap signs are need for several precincts. Bradford also advised the commissioners of other maintenance that is needed at some of the polls.

Wayne Peace, Emergency Management advised the commissioners that he has put on the web site that Ripley County and Versailles State Park has a closed container fire only at the present time.

Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the Commissioners that she had nothing to report on at this meeting.

Tad Brinson, Area Planning presented re-zones for the Commissioners to sign. Commissioner Nickell make a motion to approve the application of the Ripley County Redevelopment Corporation (RCRC)to re-zone part of the S.W.1/4, of the S.E. of Section 14, Township 7 North Range 11East in Johnson Twp. 3.93 acres  from zone classification of A-2 Agricultural to zone classification of I-1 Enclosed Industrial seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the zone application of Eugene & Elene Gunter to re-zone part of Section 4, Township 9 North, Range 12 East and part of Section 33, Township 10 North, and Range 12 East in Adams Twp. 2.9151 from zone classification A-2 Agricultural to zone classification R-B Roadside Business seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Brinson requested a new counter (for protection of employees) for the Area Planning Office at a cost of approximately $300 from Cum Cap Development. Commissioners agreed to the work to be done by Johnnie Lohrum.

Katherine Taul, Ripley County Tourism advised the commissioners that the Bluegrass Festival is Oct. 6th & 7th at the Versailles State Park and Farm Tours on Oct. 6th & 7th and 13th & 14th in Ripley County. Taul also requested that Tourism receive $50,000 from the EDIT fund for 2009 for their budget.

Ripley County Redevelopment Board thanked the commissioners for working with them on the new development project and advised the commissioners that the Lt. Governor will be in Ripley County to dedicate the new Ripley County Development Project and Annual Chamber Dinner at 6:00PM.

Scott Huffman, EMS Director updated the commissioners on the EMS.

Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the Commissioners minutes from the September 24th meeting seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, October 22nd, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved by those present.
