Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for August 13, 2007

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, August 13th, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.

Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. all stood for the opening pledge to the flag.

Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.

Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.

Attorney Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.

Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance requested CPR classes and the commissioners agreed that he could take the classes and get COM time if after hours.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected seconded Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Becky Cairns, Assistant Technology Director advised that Kelly Vollet was not present and had nothing to report.

Tad Brinson, Area Planning asked if a claim could be turned in for car washes for the building inspector. Commissioners advised that each department is responsible for the care of their own vehicles.

Julie Brancamp, Park & Recreation presented a 5 year Master Plan Survey for those present and advised that this an public meeting for the Ripley County Park & Recreation. Brancamp questioned the sign that is posted on the grand stand at the park whether it is a find or reward and if community service workers are allowed to use powered equipment at the park. Commissioners will check with Attorney Comer on this situation.

Tom Grills, Ripley County Sheriff presented invoices for the repairs on the jail. Commissioners agreed to pay the repair invoices out of the Cum Cap Development Fund. Grill also presented a claim letter for $5,000 from Travelers for services provided due to a court suit filed. (Property sold on tax sale and sheriff sale). Commissioners will check with Attorney Comer on this invoice.

Doug Skinner, Brokers National presented commissioners a new dental plan for 2008.

Jeff Stenger, JDJ Surveying & Engineering requested a viewing letter from the commissioners for Mills street in Morris, Indiana.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to pay claims seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Mark Klosterkamper, AECO & Ron May updated the Commissioners on Bridge#9, Friendship, Indiana and advised that they are waiting on the DNR permit.

Attorney Comer advised that it is the Park Board’s decision to make on the use of the powered equipment by the Community Service Workers.

Commissioners will add to the Level #2 (Snow Removal) stranded cars will be towed at owners cost.

Kerry Langdon, Engel Maps presented an updated copy of the new book map. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to go to print for the new Book Maps seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Langdom advised the commissioners that any new large wall maps could be printed at cost of $99.

Commissioners signed the 2007 Contract for Services between Ripley County and Ripley County Soil & Water Corporation District for $13,000.

Commissioner Reiners signed the claims to pay Rainbow Printing for the payroll schedule forms (99) per (State Board Accounts).

Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, August 27th, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
