Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 07/31/06
July 31, 2006
The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, July 31st, 2006 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. all stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Board on legal matters.
Becky Mullin, Janitorial presented information to the commissioners on the carpet for the third floor hall and Judge Morris’s secretary's room. G.B. Carpets presented a quote of $13.99 and Levenstein Abby Carpet presented $19.99.
Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance updated the commissioners on the projects at the courthouse and annex. Lohrum advised the commissioners that the table in the Judge’s conference room now has a new top. Generator test went well. Lohrum advised that the air conditioner went out and suggested that the commissioners take a look at the wall out side the vital records is in need of repair. Benches outside the Annex need to be painted and Lohrum asked if they could be painted Jamestown Red.
Andy Clark, Veteran’s Director updated the commissioners.
Kelly Vollet, Technology Director advised the commissioners that when the generator testing was done the server went down and it has been repaired, covered by the maintenance contract.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission & Steve Meyer, Building Inspector appeared in front of the commissioners and a letter of concern from a Mr. Brewington about the buyer be aware on 300 N. Versailles, Milan Pike.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved by Folz & Reiners. Nickell abstained.
Dave Batta, St. Nicholas Church appeared in front of the commissioners concerning the road closing of the roadway dividing St. Nicholas Church and school property. Attorney Comer advised that it requires more legal paper work. Attorney Comer and the church’s attorney will meet to prepare the needed paper work for this process and bring back to the commissioners meeting.
Pat Thomas, Health Department Director advised the commissioners that the generator testing was successful. Thomas advised that they are doing blood pressure checks in the hallway of the courthouse weekly and asked if the health department could do blood pressure checks at the highway garage. Commissioners gave permission for this to take place.
Earline Copeland, Ripley County Treasurer updated the commissioners on the purchase of a new CD from the Homestead CEDIT fund.
Ted Spurlock, Economic Development Board updated the commissioners on the hiring of a new Economic Development Director. Spurlock advised that the board is working with Purdue to get a new director. Attorney Comer expressed concern about getting a director as soon as possible due to the possibility of working with interested companies that may have interest in Ripley County.
Mark Klosterkemper, ACEON updated the commissioners on bridge #8 and advised that they are waiting on the right of way document from Marilyn England at the state. ACEON advised the commissioners that they have concerns about bridge #9 near Friendship Rd over Laughery Creek and feels that it is in need of attention. Commissioner Nickell advised that we need to get the permits to work on the water way.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, August 14th, 2006 @ 8:00 AM at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.
