Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for July 27, 2009

July 27, 2009
The Ripley County Commissioners opened their meeting promptly at 7:00AM, Monday, July 27th, 2009 at the Ripley County Highway Department, Osgood, Indiana.
Meeting was called to order promptly at 7:00AM with Robert Reiners, Gary Stutler and Mark Busching in attendance at the Highway Department.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor was present for the meeting at the Highway Department.
Commissioner Reiners advised that Hughes Tree Trimming had finished the removal and trimming of the trees at the fairgrounds.
Commissioners requested that Superintendent Heaton talk to Ron May about the Stimulus money for Ripley County.
Commissioner Busching made a motion to recessed to the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, In. for the rest of the Commissioners meeting seconded by Commissioner Stutler. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Stutler made a motion to reconvene the Commissioners meeting from the Ripley County Highway Department, Monday, July 27th, 2009 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, In. promptly at 8:00AM with the Pledge of Allegiance seconded by Commissioner Busching. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Robert Reiners, Gary Stutler and Mark Busching were all in attendance at the Ripley County Annex for the rest of the Commissioners meeting.
Auditor McCoy was present for the meeting at the Ripley County Annex and County Attorney Neil Comer was present to answer legal questions.
Commissioner Busching made a motion to approve the Commissioners minutes from July 27, 2009 seconded by Commissioner Stutler. Motion approved unanimously.
John Lohrum, Ripley County Maintenance advised the Commissioners that he had talked Clerk Treasurer of Town of Versailles concerning the clock repairs and tower repairs and was advised that it had been tabled. Lohrum advised that he would be sanding and staining the doors at the courthouse.
Commissioner Reiners reported that Hughes Tree Trimming had taken $500 off the job of trimming and removal of the trees at the Fairgrounds.
Commissioner Busching made a motion to have Hughes Tree Trimming to remove the dead tree at the courthouse by the cannon seconded by Commissioner Stutler. Motion approve unanimously.
Kelly Vollet, Technology Coordinator advised the Commissioners that Phase Two Certification for Auditorís, Assessorís and Treasurerís software is required by statue to have a signed contract by the end of the year.
Ginger Bradford, Ripley County Clerk advised the Commissioners that they will be conducting a special election for the Batesville School District on November 3, 2009. Bradford advised that the cost of the special election will be approximately $12,000 and would like for the Courthouse to be closed the day of the election. Commissioners will consult with the Neil Comer, County Attorney.
Rayical Cutter and Ginger Ramson, Safe Passage updated the Commissioners on the shelter and advised that they are working more with nonresidential clients. Cutter advised that the Safe Passage budget is approximately $250,000 to $300,000.
Superintendent Heaton advised the Commissioners that the salt price from Mortonís is approximately 65.82 a ton. Heaton also advised that Michigan Road and Railroad Avenue will be chipped and sealed (per stimulus package).
Jonathan Smith, Smith Tree Service questioned why he was not allowed to complete the tree removal and trimming project at the fairgrounds. Smith advised the Commissioners that he was not aware that he had certain days that he should be working and requested that he be paid for the work that he had done for a cost of $500. Commissioner Stutler made a motion to pay Smith $500 for the trees that he had removed and trimmed at the fairgrounds seconded by Commissioner Busching. Motion approve unanimously.
Commissioner Stutler made motion to sign the Resolution (Restricting Use and Benefits of Vending Machines at Ripley County Highway Department) seconded by Commissioner Busching. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Busching made a motion to adjourn the Commissioners Meeting until the next meet on Monday, August 10th @ 7:00AM at the Ripley County Highway Garage, Osgood, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Stutler. Motion approved unanimously.
