Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2007

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, July 16th, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
John Lohrum, Maintenance advised the commissioners that he had done some work on the rental house due to bathroom problems.
Paul Anderson, Farm Bureau presented concerns to the commissioners on the possible pork production in Ripley County and the problem that took place in Jefferson County with a pork production. Jobs are directly connected to the state’s pork industry and soybean farmers depend on the livestock market. Raising pork is a growing family tradition. Anderson also presented a estimate revenue on the new local option income tax if the county would implement in Ripley County.
Kelly Vollet, Technology Director advised the commissioners that there will be a meeting in the commissioners room annex building on August 7th, 2007 on the Ripley County Flood Map Coordination at 2:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M..
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission presented 2 applications for the building inspector’s position. One application was for the building inspector and one for the assistant building inspector.
Andy Bryant, Health Department and Buck Lawson presented a request for boring under Tanglewood Rd for a perimeter drain for a private dwelling septic system. No perimeter drain outlet is available on property. The only outlet is across Tanglewood Road; the property owner is David Swinney. A legal easement will be obtained from the property owner. Commissioners advised that they had no problem as long as a legal easement from Mr. Swinney obtained. Commissioner Folz made a motion to allow Lawson to bore under Tanglewood Road for a perimeter drain for the dwelling septic system seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Dave Davis introduced himself to the commissioners and was interested in the building inspectors job. Commissioners advised that the building inspectors job as already been filled and the only position is the assistant building inspector job.
Marty Hon, E & H Bridges and requested permission from the commissioners to proceed with ACEON on a quote for bridge #89. Commissioner Folz made a motion to proceed with ACEON on a quote for Bridge# 89 at no cost to the county seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
County Highway Superintendent Heaton advised the commissioners that INDOT @ Seymour, Indiana had advised that the county couldn’t repair the railroad crossing.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the minutes from the July 2nd meeting seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Dwight Bauman advised that he is working with Glen Kamman and had worked for Glover Miller Construction and is interested in the assistant building inspector for Ripley County.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to appoint Dwight Bauman as the new assistant building inspector for Ripley County seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Pat Thomas, Health Department presented concerns on the price of death certificates currently the price is $5.00 per certificate. Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the raise from $5.00 to $7.00 on the death certificates for Ripley County seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Kerry Langdom and Katherine Taul presented updates on the new Map Book for Ripley County.
Commissioner Reiners signed the grant agreement and receipt with the City of Rising Sun and Ripley County.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, July 30th, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
