Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for July 2, 2007
July 2, 2007
The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, July 2nd, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
John Lohrum, Maintenance updated the commissioners on work that he had done in the county building.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the minutes from June 18th, 2007 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission presented 10 recommendations on Mike Jeffries behalf for the new building inspector. Commissioners will take this under consideration.
Kelly Vollet, Technology Director reported to the commissioners that Ripley County has received $40,000 in a grant for the new GIS parceling from Rising Sun Regional Foundation.
Scott Huffman, EMS Director updated the commissioner on the EMS.
Ginger Bradford, Clerk Ripley Circuit Court presented a request to have her mileage sheet for herself and 5 other employees for the Clerk’s office banking due to no meter mileage record. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the mileage sheets for the clerk and 5 employees for office banking (due to meter reading had not been taken at time of banking) seconded by commissioner Folz. Motions approved unanimously. Commissioners advertise that in the further they will need to have the meter reading to be paid.
Mark Acree & David Boles were present to answer questions concerning the Petition for Removal of Construction in Water Course filed by Rick Roberts, 3305 E. Co. Rd. 500 N.,
Osgood, Indiana. Jeff French, Surveyor was present to answer any questions on the petition. Commissioners advised Mr. Acree that he needs to remove the elbow from the pipe so the water can flow.
Marilyn Hunt, Election Deputy presented a request to update the precinct rent for the 2008 year. Commissioner Folz made a motion to change the precinct rent from $25 per precinct to $50 per precinct for 2008 seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the transfer of $1,500 from Dog Warden Supplies to Dog Warden Mileage seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Rick Fledderman, Mayor of Batesville presented a request to partnership with Ripley County for the Merkel Rd. expansion. To make a #9 surface (add 2” of overlay) and widen to 24” (match Lamers Pike) and widen to 22’ (sufficient according to O’Mara’s) Brad Buening, Ripley County Economic Director had a quote from Dave O’Mara for the Merkel Road Improvements as follows:
County liability = 37% or $36,260 @ 24’ or $34,950.20
City liability= 63% or $61,740 @ 24’ or $59,509.80.
Commissioners advised that they could not give Mr. Fledderman an answer today but would consider the proposal.
John Graf updated the commissioners on bridge# 8 and that they would be paving on the Cave Hill side next week.
Kerry Langdon, Engel Maps updated the commissioners on the new maps book and will contact the other officer holders concerning any changes.
Commissioners opened an executive session at 12:35 PM.
Commissioners recessed for lunch.
Commissioners reopened the regular meeting of the commissioners after lunch. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to accept Steve Myers, Building Inspector resignation seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioners decided to have Tim McCormick to compare and evaluate the Health Insurance quotes for Ripley County.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to appoint Mike Jeffries as the new Building Inspector for Ripley County effective July 2nd, 2007 seconded by Commissioner Folz Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, July 16th, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
