Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for June 18, 2007
June 18, 2007
The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, June 18th, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
John Lohrum, Maintenance is on vacation this week.
Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the commissioners that she would not be having a Technology meeting this month and had nothing to report on.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission & Steve Meyer, Building Inspector presented the commissioners a letter of resignation from Steve Meyer, Building Inspector effective June 29th, 2007. Brinson updated the commissioners on the buildings in Elrod.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the use of the courthouse lawn and the lower level of the restroom during the Versailles Lion Club annual Chicken BBQ on Saturday, June 30th, 2007 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Shawna Bushhorn, Ripley County Assessor presented to the commissioners her contract with Appraisal Research for the 2007 trending at a cost of $20,000 for one year. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve Appraisal Research as the 2007 trending for Ripley County seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Jerry Volmer, Main Source Insurance updated the commissioners on the 2008 Liability Insurance for Ripley County.
Ken Hylton, Veteran Officer updated the commissioners on the Veteran’s Office accordingly; thanked Technology for their understanding and need of new computer system, van serving the veterans well; hosted a breakfast meeting for drivers to get acquainted and go over safety for riders/drivers and use of the wheel chair lift. Hylton advised the commissioners that in May alone they had 19 trips carrying 24 veterans and traveled approximately 25500 miles.
Earline Copeland, Ripley County Treasurer advised the commissioners that the current postage machine is in need of some updates due to the changes in postage. Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the update for the upgrade module for DM1000 Digital Mailing System at an additional cost of $125 per month with Pitney Bowes seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Council President Donald Dunbar advised the commissioners that he felt that a financial statement should be required from all who receive money from the county.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to join the National Association of Counties/National Association of Counties Prescription Drug Card Program at a cost of $277 dues (for 6 months) seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to accept the agreement, to contract for services with Neil Comer and to assist in the formation of a regional water district between Decatur County, Ripley County, and Jennings County at a rate of $190 an hour not to exceed the total sum of $5,000 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioners signed the Annual Report of The Board of Commissioners/To the State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the year ending, April 30th, 2007.
Commissioner Reiners signed the Grant Agreement and Receipt between Ohio County and Ripley County for $41,671.28.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to recess till approximately 8:00PM Monday evening seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner President Reiners called the meeting to order at approximately 8:00PM.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to amend the EDIT plan for 2007/2008 seconded by commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, July 2nd, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
