Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 06/06/05
June 6, 2005
The Ripley County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, June 6th, 2005 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM and all stood for the opening pledge allegiance to flag. Commissioner Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell attended the meeting.
Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor of Ripley County acted as secretary for the Board of Commissioners.
Neil Comer, Attorney was present to advise the Board on legal matters.
The Board signed the payroll check and claim register for June 6th, 2005.
Andy Clark, Veterans Service Officer advised the commissioners that he would be at a state called meeting in Indianapolis Indiana this week.
Commissioner Nickell made the motion to approve the minutes from May 23rd, 2005 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the use of the Courthouse Lawn and Bathrooms for the Versailles Lions Club Chicken Bar-B-Q on Saturday, June 25th, 2005 seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the Walk Run for the Ripley County Chamber on June 25th, 2005 @ 6:30AM seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Julie Schaefer, Life Time Resource presented a request for 2006 budget funding and asked that the commissioners recommend to the council the $28,000 budget request.
Connie DeBurger, Family Connections presented a budget request of $5,000 for the 2006 funding.
M. Elaine Arnold requested that the Ripley County Commissioners take a look at the gaps in the paving to the ramp of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association Bridge. Commissioner Nickell will take a look at this and see what can be done.
Commissioner Reiners signed the Grant Agreement and Receipt between Ohio County and Ripley County.
Katherine Taul, Tourism Director advised the commissioners that the Tourism is working with a new company for a new Ripley County Tourism Logo. Taul advised her Tourism Board would like to move on to being a separate identity and apply for a 501C3 or C6.
Donald Dunbar advised the commissioners that 6 acres west of Fairgrounds ( Harold Adams) in Osgood is for sale. Dunbar said that the Reynolds Foundation may possibly come up with a matching grant for the purchase of the ground. Dunbar will report back to the commissioners after the Wednesday night meeting of the Park Board
Scott Melling, EMS Director updated the commissioners on the billing issue and the paramedic funding for 2006. Melling advised that starting on July 1, 2005 Rescue 69 is going to be doing paramedic service with Jennings County. Attorney Comer suggested that Ripley County and Rescue 69 get together and talk about the situation. Commissioners requested that a letter be sent to Rescue 69 requesting that they appear at the next commissioners meeting on Monday, June 20th, 2005 to go over the Billing Issue, Jennings County Hospital Partnership and funding for 2006.
John Graf, Barth & Associates gave a courthouse report to the commissioners. Graf reported that the ceiling in the Assessor’s Office, Juror box on the second floor & marble slabs that are loose in the east stairwell (1st & 2nd floor) and will take a closer look at the courthouse when doing the repairs. Assessor suggested that they do the work on the ceiling after June 30th, 2005.
Attorney Comer reported on Bridge #8 (accept a bridge that the county builds) Bridge #100 (paper work to the City of Batesville for a signature).
Attorney Comer advised that he has prepared a lease contract for Ripley County & Louise Mitchell to sign for storage building.
Robert A. Scott, BBA Engineering Heating & Cooling will present a replacement comparison for the Ripley County Courthouse cooling system at the next Commissioners Meeting, June 20th, 2005 and give an estimated price to do the job.
Commissioner Nickell made the motion to support the Parents Television Council’s nationwide campaign to win “Cable Choice” seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made the motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on June 20th, 2005 @ 8:00AM at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
