Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for June 2, 2008
June 2, 2008
The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney, was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance advised the Commissioners that when the new light poles were installed, stone & dirt were left. Lohrum wondered if he could remove that stone and dirt. Commissioners suggested that they talk to the town and see if it is ok to remove the stone & dirt. Lohrum also advised the courthouse emergency lights & batteries are in need of replacement. Commissioner Folz made a motion to purchase new batteries and lights for the courthouse from Cum Cap Fund seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Ken Hylton, Veteran Officer advised the Commissioner that he would be going to the Indiana Dept. of Veterans Affairs Annual Conference and will do a report after the meeting. Hylton also advised that he has a meeting with Work Force One on Wednesday concerning jobs for disability.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission advised the Commissioners that Mr. Buchanan had called, advised that everything is cleaned up at the present time. Commissioners will keep an eye on this situation.
Area Planning requested two (2) new lap tops and three (3) licenses at approximately a cost of $2,300 and were approved by the Technology Committee. Commissioner Folz made a motion to purchaser the two (2) lap tops and three (3) licenses from Riverboat Equipment seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes from the May 19th, 2008 Commissioners meeting as corrected seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Jerry Gilpin, Versailles Lions Club Chairman presented a request to use the restrooms and courthouse grounds for the Versailles Lion’s Chicken Bar-b-que and the Car Show on June 28th sponsored by Versailles Legion. Gilpin also requested permission to use the restrooms and courthouse grounds for the Versailles Pumpkin Show through September 24th --- Sept 27th, 2008. Commissioners gave their permission to the Lion’s Club to use the grounds and restrooms for both events. Gilpin also advised that the Lion’s Club is working on a new Community Building for the Town of Versailles.
Commissioners promptly at 10:00AM opened quotes for Bridge # 89.

Commissioners will award the quotes on the 16th, June 2008 at 10:00AM. Commissioner Folz made a motion to take the quotes under advisement for Bridge# 89 seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Pat Thomas, Health Department & Manual Johnson, Home Land Security and updated the Commissioners on the process of applying for a grant for the new annex building.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next Ripley County Commissioners Meeting on Monday, June 16th, 2008 @ 8:00AM in the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
