Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 05/24/04

Commissioners met on
Monday, May 24th, 2004
in the Ripley County Annex,
Versailles
,
Indiana
.
John Little, Commissioner President called the meeting to order promptly at
8:00AM with Commissioners Chuck Folz & Robert Reiners in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor of Ripley County acted as secretary for the board of
commissioners.
Neil Comer was present to advise the Board on legal matters.
The Board signed the payroll check register and claim register for
May 24th, 2004
.
Judy Schebler, 911 Communications Director updated the commissioners with a copy
of the letter that was sent to the users of the IDACS/NCIC system to help
support the financial burden for the year 2005 and those years to follow.
Andy Clark, Veterans Service Officer advised the commissioners that he would be
at a state called conference in Indianapolis, Indiana the 7th & 8th
of June.
Commissioner Folz made the motion to approve the meeting minutes of
May 10th, 2004
and seconded by Commissioner Little. Motion approved unanimously.
Gene Bishop, Maintenance updated the commissioners on the work being done on the
Air Conditioning. Bishop advised that there are two bad Air Conditioning units
in the Courthouse. Commissioner Reiners made the motion to replace the units and
seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Helen Lohrum, Technology Assistant reported for Kelly Vollet, Technology
Director whom was on vacation that they were working on placing the new
computers.
Commissioners interviewed Jim Lovins,

for the new dog warden. Commissioners advised that he would need a special
exception, if land not zoned. Commissioners also discussed rules and relations
with Mr. Lovins.
Ginger Bradford, Clerk Ripley Circuit Court requested that polling places be
moved. Commissioner Folz made the motion to move the polling places: Johnson
1/2/3 from Versailles Baptist Church to Tyson Community Building, Versailles,
Indiana and Laughery 3-1 & 3-2 from St Marks, Batesville to Batesville
Public Library, Batesville, Indiana and seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion
approved unanimously.
Commissioner Reiners made the motion to approve the maintenance renewal
agreement with Steinhardt Enterprises, Inc for
5/01/04
to
5/01/05
seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Tab Brinson, Planning Commission updated the commissioners on projects in the
county.
Scott Melling,
EMS
Director updated the commissioners on the run statistics for
Ripley
County
. Melling advised approximately 3 calls a day at approx. 361 runs for the year.
Lawn care for the
EMS
property is to be taken care of by the Probation Department.
Melling asked that the commissioners define the service area for
Batesville. Commissioners agreed to
service Batesville City Limits including
Franklin
County
and I 74-South.
Commissioner Reiners made the motion to have Commissioner Folz check on the
walking path that would replace the CSX rails in
Ripley
County
seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motions approved unanimously.
Commissioners signed the Annual Report of the Board of Commissioners for
Ripley
County
, to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, for the Year ending
April 30th, 2004
.
President Little, signed the statement for services rendered for Larry Eaton, in
connection with the Riverboat funds.
President Little signed the Program change for 2002 Tax History @ $85.00 per
hour for 10 estimated hours.
President Little signed the Certificate of Project Completion for Grant #
PL-01-011 for Indiana Department of Commerce (IDOC) Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) Program.
President Little signed the Indiana Department Of Transportation LPA Claim
Voucher for Bridge Reinspection Phase II for $16,000/Howard J. Barth
& Associates, Inc.
Commissioners signed the Contracts for Bovine Brucellosis and Tuberculosis
eradication programs for
Ripley
County
.
President Little signed the 2005 Employer Contribution Rate of 5.50% Normal Cost
for Public Employees’ Retirement Fund for
Ripley
County
.
President Little signed the certification and acceptance to comply with the
Victims of Crime Act, the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act and the Indiana
Criminal Justice Institute’ conditions previously specified.
Commissioner Reiners made the motion to adjourn until the next meeting on
June 7th, 2004
