Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for May 19, 2008

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, May 19th, 2008 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.

Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.

Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance. 

Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.

Neil Comer, County Attorney, was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.

Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance advised the Commissioners that the air conditioning is changed over from heat to air in the Courthouse, working on Technologyís air conditioner and will treat the EMSíS deck when we have some dry weather. Lohrum advised that he will be here for the Memorial Day Services to open up the courthouse.

Gary Norman, Ripley County Economic Development Director advised the Commissioners that the website has been updated so they can now tell who is looking at the shove ready sites and now have new brochures containing Ripley County information. Norman updated the Commissioners on possible interest for the shovel ready ground in the Economic Parks in Osgood and Versailles.

Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission updated the Commissioners on the dumping in Dabney and advised that the Mobil home on St. Rd 350 has no tags and is an abandoned trailer.

Kelly Vollet, Technology advised that they would be having a technology meeting on Tuesday, May 20th at 8:15AM and that Net-Tech (Wireless networking) would be doing a presentation on line for the Technology Committee.

Ginger Bradford, Ripley County Clerk advised the Commissioners that the Town Marshall/Versailles was the back up for the Primary Election delivery and wondered if he could be the backup for the Fall Election in November. Bradford was concerned about the reimbursement of fuel to the town and will reimburse the Town if any money is left in her account at the end of the year. Commissioners didnít have a problem with the Versailles Town Marshall being the back up for the November Election.

Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the minutes from the Commissioner meeting on May 5th, 2008 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Ron May, AECON presented the Commissioners with the 2006 Bridge books and advised that they are currently working on the new bridge books for Ripley County. May also updated the Commissioners on the bridges in Ripley County.

Commissioner Nickell made a motion to sign the 2006 Bridge Re-Inspection Study & Report (saying that they had received the 2006 report) seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Ron Buchanan, Ripley County Coroner presented a claim to the Commissioners for the lettering on the new Coronerís van. Commissioners will pay this out of Cum Cap.

Commissioners will be accepting quotes at the next meeting for Bridge #89, on Monday, June 2nd, 2008. Quotes will need to be turned into the Auditorís Office by 10:00AM on June 2nd, 2008. Commissioners agreed that the demolition and reconstruction package will need to be advertised after the Commissioners accept the bridge quote for Bridge #89.

Junior Heaton, Ripley County Highway Superintendent advised the Commissioners that the Otter Creek Covered Bridge (Holton, In.) is in need of repairs on the floor of the bridge.

Julie Brancamp, Ripley County Fairground presented contracts for the Show Mobil and advised the Commissioners that someone had scheduled the Show Mobil for the end of June and now doesnít need it. Cancellation notice needs to be done 90 days before the date of use and 20% deposit.

Earline Copeland, Ripley County Treasurer advised the Commissioners that she had picked up CDíS for the Rainy Day Fund and the Cum Cap Fund and that the CDíS cashed  will make more in interest staying in the checking accounts at the current time.

Commissioners signed two Grant Agreements and Receipts between the City of Rising Sun and Ripley County.

Commissioner Folz updated the Commissioners on the Vernon Fork Water and advised that Greensburg has not made a decision at the present time.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next Ripley County Commissionerís Meeting on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 @ 8:00AM in the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Nickell.  Motion approved unanimously.
