Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for May 5, 2008

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, May 5th, 2008 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney, was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
Commissioner Reiners introduced Meredith Struewing, Sunman Elementary School; Sunman, Indiana has the essay winner at the Association of Indiana Counties Southeastern District Meeting. Meredith read her essay titled How My County Protects Its Children for the Commissioners and those present.
Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance updated the Commissioners on the third floor project (Carpet) in the Courthouse.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission had nothing to report at the meeting. Commissioner Folz had some questions concerning the dumping at Dabney and had some concerns about the Mobil Home on SR 350. Commissioners will talk to the County Attorney concerning the Mobil Home problem.
Kelly Vollet, Technology updated the Commissioners on the first phase of the on line auction. Vollet advised that they had sold 14/16 items and made $344.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the minutes for the April 21st, 2008 Commissioners meeting seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Ginger Bradford, Clerk of Ripley County advised the Commissioners that all was covered for the Primary Election and that all the Election Machines were tested and everything is OK.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the Region 14 Public Safety Communications Plan of the Federal Communications Commission seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Jeff Fisk, questioned the county easement of Cave Hill Road & 350 East/ 250 South and is it abandoned. Fisk advised that he would like to run a gas line. Map of 1921 showed that the road was open. County doesn’t have a utility easement for this road. County Attorney Comer advised that both the county and the owner have the right to build a road, county interest is the right (only) to build the road.
Commissioner President Reiners signed the Grant Agreement and Receipt between Ohio County and Ripley County.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next Ripley County Commissioner’s Meeting on Monday, May 19th, 2008 @ 8:00AM in the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
