Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 04/24/06

April 24, 2006

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, April 24th, 2006 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.

Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. and all stood for the opening pledge to the flag. Commissioner Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.

Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.

Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Board on legal matters.

Johnnie Lorhum,  the new maintenance person for the Ripley County Courthouse had questions on the maintenance being done to the boiler. Commissioner Nickell will check with Steinhardt’s to see if the maintenance has been done. Lorhum also presented other questions to the commissioners concerning maintenance to the building and grounds for the county.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes from the April 10th, 2006 meeting seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Commissioner Reiners advised that Kelly Vollet, Technology is on vacation this week. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve paying $1,534.99 from the Riverboat Equipment Fund for fiber converters and switches that was approved by the Technology committee seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission advised that the gas from the highway that is used by the planning commission is paid from Planning Commission budget.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the claim for April 10th seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Promptly at 10:00AM the commissioners opened quotes for material for the Highway Garage due to an emergency situation.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to accept quotes from Marathon Petroleum Company, Terry Asphalt Materials, Inc as firm bids and Asphalt Materials, Inc. with the Escalation/De-escalation clause seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Attorney Comer advised the bidders that they need to send a non conclusion affidavit to the Auditor’s office to keep on file.

Goose Gunter, Dan Shane & Jeff French presented questions to the commissioners concerning the WRBI Tower Road. Gunter advised that the stone is hauled and everything is done on the road way. Gunter wondered when the start date begins. Highway superintendent advised that they have a soft spot that needs to be repaired. Commissioner Reiners advised that they need to correct the soft spot and the county will write letter with a start date after the County Highway checks the road.

Commissioners signed the County-State Agreement for Bridge Inspection by Consultant Forces for Mark Klosterkemper, AECON, Inc.

Attorney Comer advised the commissioners that as soon as the deeds come back from the state they will schedule letting of the Bridge #8.

Jerry Vollmer & Brad Samples Main Source Insurance presented the commissioners a copy of the proposal for Commercial General Insurance for the 4 H Fair/Ripley County Fairgrounds. Attorney Comer & Jerry Vollmer will meet with Julie Brancamp, Park Manager at the Fairgrounds to go over what is needed for the Event Insurance for the 4H Fair & Ripley County Fairgrounds.

 

 

 

 

John Graff advised the commissioners that they will start on Bridge#100 this week and the road will be closed for approx. 90/120 days.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to terminate Steinhardt’s Contract for the heating & plumbing preventive maintenance for the Ripley County Courthouse seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.

Commissioner Folz made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, May 8th, 2006 @ 8:00 AM at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.
