Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 03/01/04

March 1, 2004

The Ripley County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, March 1^st, 2004 in the Ripley County Annex, Versailles , Indiana .

John Little, Commissioner President called the meeting to order promptly at 8:00AM with Commissioners Chuck Folz & Robert Reiners in attendance.

Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor of Ripley County acted as secretary for the board of commissioners.

Neil Comer was present to advise the Board on legal matters.

The Board signed the payroll check register and claim register for March 1, 2004 .

Gene Bishop Maintenance appeared in front of the Commissioners with some concerns about the courthouse lawn and asked if signs could be posted to keep the people/pets off the courthouse lawn. Commissioners agreed.

Kelly Vollet, Technology Coordinator, advised the commissioners that WTH (GIS system) would give the county 10 license to the new GIS program. Vollet ask the commissioners who is to receive the license and the commissioners suggested that she take it to the Technology Committee and come back with a recommendation.

Vollet advised the commissioners that the county is going to have to purchase a new server for the courts.  Commissioners advised that she take the new server out of the Riverboat Technology Fund.  

John Little had requested that Kelly Vollet, Technology Coordinator, get quotes for the purchase of the automatic dialer for the generator at the Annex and for the Fire Alarm at the courthouse.

Tab Brinson, Area Planning Commission, advised the commissioners about an on going problem of smoking in the annex. Commissioners advised that there is to be no smoking in any of the government buildings (Annex & Courthouse).

Tim Brancamp, Napoleon Town Board asked if they could contract with the county for salt/snow removal for the Town of Napoleon . Brancamp advised the commissioners that they have approx. 3 miles of road to clean. Jr. Heaton, County Highway Superintendent will do some checking on this and see what the cost would be to do the job for town of Napoleon .

Shawna Bushhorn, Ripley County Assessor presented the commissioners with new contracts from Appaisal Research Company for new construction at the cost of $12,500 and $13,094 for the new software for Personal Property.

Ted Spurlock, Versailles Town Board presented the commissioners with the 2003 Annual Report from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation, Inc.

  Neil Comer, County Attorney advised the commissioners that they need to appoint five people to the Redevelopment Commission Board. Commissioners took this under advisement until the next meeting.

Ginger Bradford, Ripley County Circuit Court Clerk & Marilyn Hunt, Election Deputy appeared in front of the Commissioners with concerns about the elevator being shut down in April due to Absentee Voting for the Primary Election. Bradford asked that the commissioners reconsider when the elevator will be closed to the public. Commissioners agreed that it should be postponed till after the Election.

Commissioner Folz made the motion to adjourn till the next meeting on Monday, March 15th ^at 8:00AM . in the Annex, Versailles , Indiana seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.
