Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 02/26/07
February 26, 2007
The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, February 26th, 2007 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the commissioners.
Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the commissioners on legal matters.
John Lohrum, Maintenance advised the commissioners that a sign had been stolen from the courthouse yard. Lohrum also reported that he came into the courthouse and started up the heat due to electric being out in the courthouse.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes from February 11th, 2007 meeting after corrections were made seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Folz advised that the a Commissioners had met with Lynn Newman, Cleo Duncan and other elected official in Greensburg on Friday, February 16th, 2007 concerning the creation of the Regional Water District. The board will be established by appointment of one Commissioner, one Council member from each county and one utility. Attorney Comer is working on the documentations.
Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the commissioners that she had a problem on Friday at the Sheriff’s Office with the phones and is in need of new cable lines. Blue River presented a estimate of approx. $1,214.94 to correct the problem. Vollet advised that she is also getting an estimate from ETC for the same problem. Ginger Bradford, Clerk of Ripley County and Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the commissioners that the hub in the clerk’s office is a danger because it is now at head level and needs to be moved. Vollet presented an estimated of $1,639.65 from Blue River Communications to move the hub up on the wall and place a box over it as a cover. Commissioner Nickell made a motion to go ahead and correct this problem in the clerk’s office seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Vollet also advised that Tammy Borgman, Ripley County Recorder is looking at changing her recorders company, currently the Recorder is with ACS.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve the claims seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commission and Steve Myer, Building Inspector advised the commissioners that they would like to attend a meeting in Indianapolis on new products that can be used for building. Commissioners agreed that they could go to this meeting in Indianapolis.
Jerry Mullins presented concerns on the Level 1 and Level 2 for Ripley County during an emergency due to the weather of Snow and Ice. Commissioners signed a Local Emergency Proclamation for Jerry Mullins.
Darren Wood advised the Commissioners that he has started a tree service and if the county needed help with trees he would like the business.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to sign the Extension Contractual Services Agreement Between Purdue University And Government Of Ripley County, Indiana for the period of January 1st, through December 31st, 2007 seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Dave Osborn, Extension Director updated the commissioners on changes they are working for Ripley County.
Earline Copeland, Treasurer advised the commissioners on the investments on the county accounts.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next regular meeting on Monday, February 26th, 2007 @ 8:00A.M. at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
