Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for February 25, 2008

The Ripley County Commissioners met on Monday, February 25th, 2008 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana.
Commissioner Reiners promptly called the meeting to order at 8:00A.M. All stood for the opening pledge to the flag.
Robert Reiners, Chuck Folz and Lawrence Nickell were in attendance.
Mary Ann McCoy, Ripley County Auditor took minutes for the Commissioners.
Attorney Neil Comer, County Attorney was present to advise the Commissioners on legal matters.
Johnnie Lohrum, Maintenance advised the Commissioners that he had ordered more salt for the sidewalks. Auditor McCoy asked if Lohrum could work on the counter in the Auditor’s Office. Commissioners suggested that Lohrum & Jefferies take a look at the counter and call Halcomb’s to take a look at the project. Commissioners Nickell is working on bids for the new carpet for the third floor in the courthouse.
Commissioner Folz made a motion to approve the minutes for the Commissioners meeting on February 11th, 2008 seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to purchase a new server for the Assessor’s Office from Cum Cap Development at a cost of $11,248 from Manatron per Technology approval seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Assessor Bushhorn advised the Commissioners that she has approximately $3,000 in Reassessment that can be used for the purchase of the server.
Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the Commissioners that she had gotten a quote from Cummins for a generator for the courthouse at a cost of $49,922. Vollet will look at getting quotes for a portable PA System that can be used outside the courthouse.
Mike Jeffries, Building Inspector advised the Commissioners that the Annex lot needs cleaned off due to the ice. Commissioners requested Jeffries get with Lohrum and take a look at the counter top in the Auditor’s Office to make it handicap assessable.
Katherine Taul, Tourism Director requested to use the courthouse lawn and square for a Civil War Reenactment later this year. Commissioners will get back with Taul about this matter.
Commissioners agreed that Q.P.H will handle the larger projects at the Sheriff Department and Jail.
Commissioners agreed to give the Van from the Sheriff’s department to the Coroner and Highway’s vehicle (Ford Durango) to the Building Inspector.
Commissioners signed a letter to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs giving their support for the construction of a new fire station for the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department and donating approximately four acres to the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department for the new station. Commissioners will have County Attorney, Neil Comer prepare the deed for the property that the County is donating to the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to sign the Inspection and Recommendation Contract for Bridge #8 from Indiana Department of Transportation seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously. Commissioners signed the Report of Contract Final Inspection and Recommendation for Acceptance from Indiana Department of Transportation for Bridge #8 presented by John Graf.
Commissioner Folz made a motion that as of 2-25-2008 all new employees hired by Ripley County Health Department will be under the County Employment Policy/Handbook in all aspects seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioners agreed to give a portion of Wayne Peace’s Emergency Management Office to the new Coroner, Buchanan for his office.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to approve advance of $3,333.33 from the Economic Development Project fund in EDIT for the administration expenses from the new Regional Water District seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved by Commissioners (Reiners & Nickell). Commissioner Folz abstained.
Commissioners agreed that they do not want to have the Civil War Reenactment on the Courthouse lawn.
Commissioners agreed to allow the S.A.D group/South Ripley School to use the sidewalks for a walk a thon on April 5th, 2008 and a rain date of April 12th, 2008.
Commissioner Reiners signed the grant agreement between Ripley and Ohio County.
Commissioner Nickell made a motion to adjourn until the next Ripley County Commissioner’s Meeting on Monday, March 10th, 2008 @ 8:00AM in the Ripley County Annex, Versailles, Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
