Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 02/02/04
February 2, 2004
The Ripley County Board of Commissioners met on
Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the commissioners that the Technology Committee met on January 20th and elected the following officers: Ric Hertel/Chairman, John Little/Co-Chairman, and Kelly Vollet/Secretary. Vollet also advised the commissioners that the committee approved the purchase of a copier for Superior Court at a cost of $4,554.56 to be taken from the Riverboat Equipment Budget. Commissioner Folz made the motion to approve her recommendation seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.
Commissioner Reiners made a motion to go with SusCom for the Cable Modem for EMS & Highway Garage at $34.95 a month seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
Vollet advised the commissioners that the Technology Committee recommended the purchase of Jury Management software from DataDesign at $6,012.50 that includes the first 6 months maintenance coverage. After the first 6 months the cost is $1400 per year. Currently paying Manatron $1,759 per year for the Jury Software. Commissioners tabled this until verification of RiverBoat funds were obtained.
Vollet advised the commissioners that the Technology Committee recommend the purchase of 180 hours ($15,300) from Technology budget for support training from Low for the Auditor/Treasurer offices. Vollet also advised that the Technology committee recommended that in 2005 each office request funds for training in their departments and drop the training for Low from the Technology department. Commissioner’s felt that it should be left as it is presently (in the Technology Budget). Commissioner Folz made the motion to purchase the 180 hours at the cost of $15,300 seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.
Vollet had concerns about the priority of the Computer Grant. Commissioner Reiners will contact Rising Sun Regional Foundation to advise them that the computer grant is the first priority. Commissioners ask that Vollet do a letter to all office holders that grant requests have got to go through the County Grant Committee before submission to RSRF.

Advisory Group Inc. of
India Turner/Department of Family Children asked the commissioners for their support on a Victims Of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant ($65,000) from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute for the Department of Family Children. Commissioner Folz made a motion to support the VOCA Grant at no cost to the taxpayer seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously. Commissioner Little, President signed the Grant Application for the VOCA Grant.
Bill Reed, Beam, Longest &
Neff, LLC updated the commissioners on Bridge#180 (
Kerry Langdon, Engels Maps and the Commissioners, Highway/Jr. Heaton, Sheriff/Bill Davison, E-911/Judy Schebler, Sue French/Surveyor went over the new county map and made corrections. Commissioners requested that the bridges be put on the updated map. Langdon advised that he would put the bridges on the county map with an additional cost of $1,000 and the total cost of $4,500 to redo the Ripley County Map. Langdon advised the Township & Range lines would be added at no cost to the county. Commissioners asked that the railroad tracks be put on the map and take the private driveways off. Landgon advised that he would bring the corrected county map back to the next meeting on the 13th of February.
Scott Melling,
Bill Davison, Sheriff of Ripley County presented the commissioners with an Ordinance of Ripley County (Transferring of the Adult In-Home Incarceration Program and Fund of the Ripley County Probation Department to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department). The Ordinance will establish fees for participation in the Adult In-Home Incarceration Program. Initial Installation Fee $50.00 & Daily Fee $8.00 and the fees under this program shall be deposited into the Ripley County Sheriff’s Adult In-Home Incarcerating Fund. Commissioners signed the Ordinance for the sheriff’s work release program.
