Unapproved Commissioner's Meeting Minutes for 01/03/05

January 3, 2005

The Ripley County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, January 3rd, 2005 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles , Indiana .

Commissioner’s (Reiners & Folz) welcomed Lawrence Nickell as a new member to the board of Commissioners for 2005.                                                                                                                    

Commissioner Nickell made the motion to appoint Robert Reiners as Commissioner President for the year 2005 seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

           Commissioner Folz suggested that all Ripley County Governmental Meetings should be begin with the Pledge of Allegiance seconded by               Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

             Mary Ann McCoy, Auditor of Ripley County acted as secretary for the Board of Commissioners.

Neil Comer, Attorney was present to advise the Board on legal matters.

The Board signed the payroll check and claim register for January 3rd, 2005.

Commissioners stated that the hourly employees are not to be paid for snow days.

Commissioner Nickell made the motion to approve the Rising Sun Grant agreement for the revenue sharing plan for Ripley County seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Commissioner Nickell made the motion to approve the Ohio Grant Agreement seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.

Andy Clark, Veterans Service Officer updated the commissioners on the grant for the new veteran’s van.

Kelly Vollet, Technology advised the commissioners on the Indiana Rural Development Council Grant (layered parceling) for Ripley County and that the grant was not funded at this time. Vollet and the Commissioners will be updating the Ripley County Handbook.

Commissioner Folz made the motion to appoint Lawrence Nickell to the Technology Committee for 2005 seconded by Commissioner Reiners. Motion approved unanimously.

Tad Brinson, Area Planning Commissioner had nothing to report.

David Chandler advised the commissioners that Southern Ripley County is in need of a weather system for the rural area (New Marion, Benham, Olean & Cross Plain). Commissioner Reiners suggested that they look into seeing if there could possibly be a grant for this funding.

Jerry Vollmer, Main Source Insurance updated the commissioners on the Liability/Terrorism Insurance for Ripley County . Commissioner Folz made the motion to include the Terrorism Policy in the Liability Insurance for Ripley County seconded by Commissioner Nickell. Motion approved unanimously.

Ginger Bradford, Ripley County Clerk advised the commissioners that by 2006 she would be out of Storage for the Court Records. 

Commissioner Nickell made the motion to adjourn until the next regular commissioner meeting on Friday, January 14th, 2005 at the Ripley County Annex, Versailles , Indiana seconded by Commissioner Folz. Motion approved unanimously.
