Summary of calls handled in January

The Ripley County Communications Center handles incoming calls from Ripley County citizens and unit assignments for the county Sheriff, five town police departments, conservation officers,12 fire/task departments, three EMS units, Paramedic unit, Emergency Management, and Enhanced 9-1-1 and the dog warden.
A total of 982 calls received from the public for assistance and complaints were received via 9-1-1 and regular phone lines, for POLICE, FIRE, EMS and PARAMEDICS as well as 7 calls for the Dog Warden in JANUARY log entries, which reflect each radio and telephone transactions handled for all field units, incoming complaints and other calls for assistance totaled 4511. Statistics compiled for JANUARY calls to the communication center show that 659 ENHANCED 9-1-1calls were answered last month 360 of those calls were real emergencies called in on the computerized system.
A breakdown of 9-1-1 calls received shows 131 EMS related and 252 POLICE calls were received on the system.  There were also 111 PARAMEDIC AND 74 FIRE AND FIRST RESPONDER related calls answered on that computer-enhanced emergency line. There were 299 calls to 9-1-1 that were not an emergency, these calls were system problems with VERIZON, false calls, kids playing and test on the system.
A breakdown of calls show 666 for police assistance were received in JANUARY and another 40 routine calls were received concerning title checks, minor complaints, information request for the office and follow-up investigations, making a total of 706 calls of all types handled for town and county police.
